About CatalogSmith
The studio that cleans your product catalog — and shows its work
CatalogSmith is a focused, done-for-you product-data cleanup studio. You send a messy catalog export — Excel or CSV, however disorganized — and you get back a clean, de-duplicated, standardized, import-ready file, usually in about five business days. It is run as a focused practice, not a volume operation — a dedicated specialist owns your job, with audit-grade transparency and a written record of every change. Nothing is altered silently, and anything uncertain is flagged for you to decide rather than guessed.
What CatalogSmith actually is
CatalogSmith is a done-for-you product catalog data cleanup studio: you send a messy Excel or CSV export and get back a clean, de-duplicated, standardized, import-ready file.
Most catalog cleanup gets handed to a faceless, thousand-seat operation where your file disappears into a queue and reappears with changes nobody can explain. CatalogSmith is the opposite of that.
- One specialist owns your job end to end — you always know who touched your data and why.
- Every edit is logged at the cell level: original value, cleaned value, and the reason for the change.
- Anything ambiguous is flagged for you to confirm. We never invent a value to fill a gap.
- The work is reconciled in and out — no row quietly dropped, no value silently created.
- Your file is confidential, used only for your job, and deleted after delivery.
The method that makes it trustworthy
Standardization to real specs
GTINs — including UPC and EAN — are validated with the GS1 check-digit rule. Units of measure are made consistent. Text is normalized to Unicode, dates follow ISO 8601, and currency amounts follow ISO 4217 minor-unit conventions. No house style invented on the fly.
Deduplication with survivorship
Duplicates are resolved with explicit survivorship rules — the surviving record is chosen deliberately and recorded — never blindly merged. Category mapping follows your taxonomy, not ours.
A three-layer quality review
Every job passes through a structured three-layer quality-assurance review before it reaches you, so the file you load into a PIM or new platform has already been staged and validated.
What you get back, every time
The cleaned, import-ready data file.
A data dictionary explaining every column.
A per-cell change-log: original → cleaned → why.
A findings report plus the items only you can decide.
The person behind the work
Faraz Naqvi
CatalogSmith exists because most PIM migrations and webshop launches stall on dirty product data — and the usual fix is to ship it offshore and hope. I take the opposite approach: I do the cleanup myself, document every decision, and hand back data you can audit line by line. If a value can't be verified against a named standard or your own taxonomy, it gets flagged for you, not quietly changed.

What you won't find here
- No invented testimonials and no borrowed client logos. CatalogSmith is a focused, independent studio, and the proof we offer is the method itself — a free 50-SKU sample clean you can judge on your own data, and a change-log that lets you verify every edit.
- No price race to the bottom. This is premium, done-for-you work backed by a quality review, not bulk re-keying.
- No silent edits and no guesswork. If we touched it, it's in the log. If we weren't sure, it's flagged for you.
